In line with its strategy and continued review of the business portfolio, Fortum decided to assess strategic options, including possible divestment, of its district heating and cooling businesses in the Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia.
The divestment includes a complex transition and carve-out of the IT services related to the target business. To ensure successful IT transition during Day 1 and the subsequent carve-out phase, Fortum needed to set up a project with the right capabilities to manage simultaneously both the technical details of the complex IT landscape as well as the multitude of internal and external stakeholders required to support the transition.
Taival brought in expert resourcing to help plan, manage, and execute the Day 1 and Carve-Out projects within IT stream of the divestment project.
Taival assumed the overall coordination responsibility of all the IT transition related activities and helped coordinate efforts across other streams.
Taival also helped setting up required TSA services (Transitional Services Agreements) and related governance model to enable transition from Fortum to the buyer.
With the help of Taival’s expertise Fortum was able to plan and execute successful Day 1 transition with no business disruptions followed by a coordinated ramp-up of TSA services delivery (Transitional Services Agreement) supporting the realization of the overall business case of the strategic transaction.
